Family-run bespoke furniture makers

Bespoke Fitted Furniture in Warrington, Cheshire & the North West

We are a family-run team making fitted wardrobes, media walls, home offices and clever storage for homes across Warrington, Cheshire and the North West. Everything is made to order and scribed to your own walls and floors, so it uses the full height of the room and the awkward corners that other furniture leaves empty. Sloping ceilings and chimney alcoves included.

Made to measure, built to last

What Is Bespoke Fitted Furniture?

Bespoke fitted furniture is made to the measurements of one particular room and fixed in place, which is how it reaches the space freestanding furniture has to leave empty. No gap above the wardrobe collecting dust, nothing lost behind it, and no awkward few inches at the end that never quite work. Everything is made to order, then cut, scribed and finished in your home. These are the pieces people ask us for most.

Which Rooms Benefit From Made-to-Measure Furniture?

Any room where the walls are not straight, the ceiling slopes, or there is a chimney breast in the way. That is most British houses, and it is usually the room people have quietly given up on: the box room over the stair bulkhead, the landing that could hold a cupboard, the two alcoves either side of the fireplace that are never the same width. Those are the spaces we are asked to sort out most often:

Why Choose Fitted Furniture Over Freestanding?

Because off-the-shelf furniture is made to an average size, and your room is not average. Put a 900mm wardrobe in a 1,040mm alcove and you have lost 140mm you will never get back, plus the shelf of dead air above it. Fitted furniture works the other way round: the room comes first, and the furniture is made to match it.

Perfect fitScribed to your walls and floor, with no gaps or wasted corners.Made to average sizes, leaving gaps that gather dust.
Use of spaceUses the full height and every alcove, chimney breast and eaves.Leaves dead space above, beside and behind.
Seamless styleLooks built-in and part of the room.Looks like separate, standalone pieces.
Added valueMakes a home feel finished and adds appeal when selling.Leaves with you and adds little to the home.
StorageDesigned around what you own and how you live.A fixed internal layout you have to work around.
Built to lastMade to order from solid, high-grade materials and backed by a 10-year guarantee.Often flat-pack, with a shorter life.
Every inch counts

How Do You Make the Most of a Small or Awkward Room?

You build upwards, into the corners, and around whatever is in the way. Most rooms lose more space to the ceiling than to the floor. A standard wardrobe stops at about two metres and leaves the rest as storage for suitcases and dust, whereas a fitted one carries on to the ceiling line and gives you a full extra shelf's worth of room without taking a single extra centimetre of floor.

Go Floor to Ceiling

The 300mm to 600mm above a freestanding wardrobe is usually the cheapest storage in the house to reclaim. In a fitted bedroom that is often where the out-of-season clothes end up, behind a door rather than in a box on top.

Use Both Alcoves Properly

Chimney breast alcoves are almost never a matching pair, which is why shop-bought units sit proud on one side. Made to measure, they take shelving and cabinets that look built into the wall rather than pushed against it.

Claim the Space Nobody Uses

Under the stairs, the box room over the bulkhead, the eaves in a loft conversion. These are the spaces standard furniture cannot reach at all, and where storage for tricky spaces makes the biggest difference.

Design Around What You Own

Hanging rails at two heights for shirts and jackets, deeper drawers where you keep jumpers, a shallow shelf for shoes. Internal layouts are set by what actually goes in, not by a catalogue's idea of an average wardrobe.

Put the Depth Where It Helps

A media wall can be 200mm deep at the sides and deeper behind the television, so it holds the kit and the cabling without pushing the sofa back into the middle of the room.

Work With the Slope, Not Against It

A sloping ceiling is only wasted if you treat it as a wall. Drawers and low cupboards fit happily under the pitch, and the height you do have gets used for hanging. See our guide to sloping and awkward spaces.

Why choose us

Why Choose North West Fitted Furniture?

Because you get to know the same small family team, from the first measurement right through to the final adjustment. The person who sits at your kitchen table talking through ideas is one of the people who will be in your home fitting the furniture, so nothing gets lost along the way and you always know who you are dealing with. We are based in Warrington and work across Greater Manchester, Lancashire and the wider North West, from Widnes and Runcorn out to Manchester, Stockport and Preston. Most of our work still comes to us through word of mouth, which we take as a lovely compliment.

What Happens If Something Is Not Right?

Give us a call and we will come back and put it right, no fuss and no awkward conversation. We are a family business in a town where people talk to one another, and nearly every job we take on comes from someone a neighbour, a friend or a relative sent our way. Looking after people properly is how that keeps happening, and it is genuinely the part we enjoy most. We would far rather spend an extra afternoon getting a door to sit exactly right than have you living with something that niggles every time you walk past it.

Take All the Time You Need

The design visit really is free, with no obligation at all. Plenty of people keep the drawings, have a think for a few months and come back to us later. That is absolutely fine by us, and you will not get a chasing phone call in the meantime.

The Price We Quote Is the Price You Pay

Your written quote is fixed before we start. If we meet an awkward wall along the way, that is ours to sort out, not something we will come back and ask you for more money about.

You Can Always Reach Us

Ring us and you will get the people who actually did the work, not a call centre. Years down the line, if something needs looking at or you just want some advice, we would much rather you picked up the phone.

Bespoke Fitted Furniture FAQs

What is bespoke fitted furniture?

Bespoke fitted furniture is designed and built to measure for your exact room, then fixed in place so it fits floor to ceiling and wall to wall. Because it is scribed to your walls and floors, it uses space that freestanding furniture simply cannot reach, including alcoves, chimney breasts and sloping ceilings.

Which areas do you cover?

We are based in the North West and design, build and fit furniture across Manchester, Cheshire and the surrounding towns such as Altrincham, Wilmslow, Stockport and Sale. We also take on projects further afield across mainland England, Wales and Scotland - just ask.

Is the home design visit really free?

Yes, completely. A member of our team visits your home, measures precisely, talks through ideas and finishes, and prepares detailed 3D designs so you can see the furniture in your room before you commit. There is no charge and no obligation.

How long does a project take?

It depends on the size and complexity, but most projects move from design visit to installation over a few weeks. Your furniture is made to order once the design is signed off, then fitted in your home, usually within one to a few days on site.

Do you offer a guarantee?

Yes. Every piece of furniture we make comes with a 10-year guarantee as standard, backed by our own in-house team and aftercare, so you can buy with confidence.
